KOPPU (The Flagship Cross-Cultural Project)
Launched in 2017 to bring the hidden brilliance of Portuguese viticulture directly to discerning global palates, the KOPPU project bridges continents through a shared word and a shared passion. The bottle wraps itself in the iconic aesthetic of Azulejo Portugal’s traditional hand-painted ceramic tiles, while bearing a name that means exactly the same thing in both Portuguese and Japanese: a cup to drink from, freely and casually. KOPPU challenges rigid structures; it is a portfolio of freedom, crafted to blend harmoniously with both Western gastronomy and delicate traditional Asian cuisines.
Maquete is a provocative challenge to the framework of modern commercial oenology. Created by a collective of close friends operating anonymously, this project shifts the spotlight away from the modern superstar winemaker and returns it firmly to where ownership belongs: the land, its people, and its generational wisdom. These are raw, low-intervention liquid sketches from ancient, non-irrigated bush vines up to 40 years old in Amareleja and Montemor-o-Novo. Every drop is born inside ancient clay vessels (Talha), fermenting spontaneously without chemical stabilization, adjustments, or filtering.
Maquete Barro Red (2024): 13.5% ABV | 1,305 Bottles. Moreto, Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet. Spontaneous skin contact in 3 clay vessels, opened on Good Friday. Notes of red fruits, soft spices, and a lingering touch of clay.
Maquete Barro White (2024): 12.5% ABV | 478 Bottles. Field Blend (Rabo de Ovelha, Roupeiro, Manteúdo, Diagalves, Antão Vaz). Skin-contact amber hue, stone fruit notes, notable traditional volatile acidity. Opened on St. Martin’s Day.
Maquete Vasos D’Aida (2024): 12.5% ABV | 256 Bottles. Rabo de Ovelha and Roupeiro. Single ancient vessel production, aged on fine lees, completely unfiltered with natural particles left intentionally in suspension for immense texture and complexity.
